Language Investigation Proposal
What is my language investigation?
My investigation is going to be based around classroom language and the way that children from different age groups interact with each other and a teacher. I will compare two different groups of children from reception and year 1, the start of school, and year 5 and 6, the end of school and beginning of secondary school transmission.
What do you think is going to happen?
My hypothesis for this investigation is that conversation with the teacher and each other will be more developed, a better understanding of more complex vocabulary and more complex sentences and the use of specific lexical fields.
How am I going to carry out this investigation?
I'm going to take groups of pupils from four year groups out and record or monitor their conversations between each other and the teacher. To make it fair I'll take the same amount of students and record them for the same amount of time. I will then take the transcripts and compare using set criteria to draw comparisons.
